citizen journalism?

what is citizen journalism.. hmm what is it??
welll its people like me and you and god knows who else posting what ever we think, our criticism on all the happenings of the world.

unlike certain countries where everything is censored and people are neglected of their freedom of speech, we can right whatever we want.

like Bush was the worst president ever, who did nothing but fulfill his dad's wish in going to war....
hmmm warr... such a lovely topic.

wikipedia's definition of "Citizen journalism, also known as public or participatory journalism or democratic journalism, is the act of citizens "playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information.

"The idea behind citizen journalism is that people without professional journalism training can use the tools of modern technology and the global distribution of the Internet to create, augment or fact-check media on their own or in collaboration with others. For example, you might write about a city council meeting on your blog or in an online forum. Or you could fact-check a newspaper article from the mainstream media and point out factual errors or bias on your blog. Or you might snap a digital photo of a newsworthy event happening in your town and post it online. Or you might videotape a similar event and post it on a site such as YouTube." - Mark Glasser.

Yea... i dun think there's much of an explanation.
We all know that media, newspapers, everything is pretty much controlled by the wealthy and powerful. God knows even if what we know is actually true, right?

So to conclude, citizen journalism is this. It's writing whatever we want and knowing that no matter how horribly we badmouth the president or watever we'll never be caught and busted by some secret government sector that looks out for anti-bush supporters. :)
